Andy Purscelley - Pastor of High School Ministries
Andy PurscelleyAndy Purscelley joined the New Hope staff as Youth Pastor in the spring of 2003, after graduating from Western Baptist College the previous May. Andy began his college career studying Sociology but after experiencing God calling him into ministry Andy changed his life accordingly. He began interning at the Oregon City Evangelical Church where God confirmed his heart for youth, and helped him develop some of the skills he would need to work with them. He also transferred to Western Baptist where he was able to major in Youth Ministry and get a wife.

Andy grew up in Portland, where he enjoyed rainy days and urban life. He has had to adjust to the sunshine, snow, and outdoor culture of Bend . After four years he now considers himself assimilated because he owns a fishing pole, hiking boots, a SUV, and can safely navigate a round-about.

Andy and his wife Sara met in college and have been married for four years. Sara worked for Trillium Family Services where she managed a residential treatment facility for youth with mental illnesses but left that job when son, Linus was born last January. She now works part time at the hospital as well as teaching independent living skills to foster kids and enjoys having more time with family and to help out with the youth.

Andy is passionate about equipping youth for the unique challenges of living for Christ in High School today. Andy is excited about continuing to develop the high school group into a place were students meet the Lord, connect with other students, and develop deep spiritual foundations which will last a life time.
